Learn some tips and tricks for Pinterest, a free website for pictures and ideas. Pin some favorite ideas for fun, learning or work! Requires basic computer skills.

History Hobby

There are many online historic documents that need to be transcribed so they can more easily be discovered and searched. The Smithsonian Museum and other organizations are asking for the public’s help. In this class, we will explore how you can help transcribe artifacts such as letters, diaries and reports. Requires basic computer skills.

Learn the basic features and uses of Microsoft Excel. 

Class may include: how to enter data and use tools and formulas in Excel spreadsheets and tables. Requires basic computer skills.

  • Sign-ups are preferred. Walk-ins will be welcome as long as there are enough computers.

The Digital Media Lab has 4 media stations: one for audio conversion; one for digital photography and video editing; a recording space; and a green screen studio area for filming videos. Need ideas for projects or help getting started? Staff will be on hand during lab hours (see calendar below) to teach you how to use the equipment and offer assistance. Patrons will be able to convert personal LPs or cassettes to MP3 for greater listening ease. Have things to sell on Etsy or Ebay? Visit the lab to use the professional tabletop photography studio to produce great images for online commerce. Want to start your own podcast, or narrate your novel into an audiobook? The recording space is perfect for you! Learn how to make A+ videos for class using the green screen and Final Cut Pro. The lab is also available for private use on request for recording projects.
